THE TSUKANOV ART COLLECTION

Two paintings by Grisha Bruskin from the second half of the 1980s have been acquired from private American collections: “Logi” – Part 2 (1987) and “War Games” (1988). In his works from this period, the artist places archteypical figures from the ideological Soviet myth (the worker, soldier, pioneer, doctor, etc.) against a background of illegible texts and diagrams, which are reminiscent, in the opinion of art critic E. Barabanov, “simultaneously hieroglyphics with drawings from the “Book of the Dead” and the propoganda exhibitions or textbooks” from the stagnant period of Soviet communism in the 1970s and 80s.
